Wait List for Campus Child Care

Each of the campus children’s centers is a unique program with different missions, philosophies, schedules and curriculums.  Please visit their websites and/or tour the sites so that you are familiar with the schedule options, curriculum, fees and policies before applying to the waitlist.

Please Note Important Wait List Information

  • Application fees are $25 per center/family. The fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee enrollment to a center.
  • Applications will stay on file through December 31st and will have an option of renewal for $10 per center during the month of January. Any applications that are not renewed during that time period will be removed from the waitlist.
    The renewal period is now closed for 2018.
  • Most campus programs complete their fall enrollment between January and March each year. If you are applying after that time period, your application will stay on file through the end of the year in the event that any openings arise. Please keep in mind that families who apply this year and don’t get in will be higher up on the waitlist for next year (except at the UW Preschool Lab, which does a lottery system each year).
  • When applying to be on the campus child care waitlist, you will also have the ability to choose if you’d like a free membership (for current UW-Madison students, staff and faculty) to help you find other care options that might work for your family while you are waiting to get into a campus program.

Steps to New Application

  1. Have a credit card ready before clicking on the application link as a credit card is required for payment.
  2. Click the “Apply Now” button below. You will be prompted to start a new application and set up an account. It is important to remember your user name and password so that you can easily access or make changes to your application if necessary.
  3. Follow the prompts to add your child(ren) to each center.
  4. Complete your application by following the prompts to the payment site. Enter a valid credit card number and submit payment.
  5. You will be notified by the center if you’re next on the list when an opening becomes available.


  1. Have a credit card ready before you click on the renewal link as a credit card is required for payment.
  2. Sign into your Wait list Account.
  3. Follow the prompts to renew your child at each center.
  4. If you would like to add your child(ren) to a new center, the fee remains $25
* Renewal period for applications is open during the month of January each year.
